Andrew Johns says Rookie coach Craig Fitzgibbon admits an election mistake and claims credit for correcting it next week.
The sharks were blown out of the park by riders after the Fitzgerald gun recruiter Nico Hynes was transferred from halfback to fullback.
Although Hynes has plenty of NRL experience at fullback, after being hired for Storm Ryan Papenhuagen, he established himself as the playmaking general of Cronulla in 2022, and the Raiders lacked much of their direction at their 30-10 rate.

Cronulla’s regular No. 1 Will Kennedy is still serving suspension for this Sunday’s clash with the Titans but without leaning towards the utility standard of the Hynes, Fitzgibbon reinstated him in the No. 7 jersey, giving former Rugby Sevens Olympian Lachlan the door open. Miller made his NRL debut at Fullback.
The move has garnered Johns approval, although he is still advising the Titans to win the game after a 20-16 win over the Dragons on Saturday at the Sibis Super Stadium.
“The rugby sevens guy goes fullback, lightning fast,” Johns told Wide World of Sports. Tips from Freddie and VIII.
“I thought it was a mistake to take Nico Hynes back to fullback and get along with Craig Fitzgerald. He probably saw it and gave it back.
“It’s that old saying, don’t weaken one position to make another strong.”
Brad Fitler also advised the Titans, saying sharks need to give more injections into their big men’s game.
“The shark loses [Dale] Finuken (because of the excitement), it will be interesting, I know behind Royce Hunt or they will play Royce Hunt. Fifita, they need some size there, “Fitler said.
