A potential season-end injury suffered by growing cowboy second-rower Helium Luke has damaged an unprecedented resurgence in North Queensland.
Wide World of Sports has confirmed with the club that Lukey committed suicide by breaking a suspicious ACL during the Cowboys’ 31-12 win over the Dragons on Friday night.
The 21-year-old came off the tackle after injuring his right knee in the 15th minute off the field in Townsville.

The good news for Cowboys fans is that Jeremiah Nanaie, another young North Queensland back-rower, revealed at half-time that his injury was not serious during the State of Origin opener.
Nanai died of a right ankle injury during Queensland’s 16-10 win over New South Wales on Wednesday night.

The 19-year-old left the game and returned to the field, but was not named for the Cowboys’ match against the Dragons.

“The fingers crossed Tuesday. I’ll find out if I can play next week,” Jonathan Thurston told Nanai Nine’s coverage.
“It’s just a minor injury.”
