Blues coach Brad Fitler suffered a knee injury in Newcastle’s 24-16 win over the Warriors and suffered another knee injury along with the Knights’ proponent Daniel Saifiti.
Saifiti was forced out early in the first half and did not return, with Knights coaching Adam O’Brien confirming early signs that he was suffering from an MCL injury.
“He’s in a leg brace right now. I think they’re thinking MCL … I don’t know until he scans her,” O’Brien said.

“Leaving for her and then not coming back is not a good sign for us.”
Saifiti played in one and two games of the Origin series last year before a rib injury ruled him out of the final.
She has featured for the Blues in seven shows since making her debut at Origin Level in 2019.
Saifiti’s injury adds to a growing list of problems with Fitler’s blues face injuries.
Fitler, who will name his Game One squad on Sunday evening, is already looking for two new centers after Lateral Mitchell was ruled out due to a hamstring injury and Daly M medalist Tom Trobozevic died of a shoulder injury.
The Blues will also be without experienced Dale Finuken, who is sidelined due to a knee injury.
A game in the Origin series will be played on June 8.
