Melbourne have suspended star defender Steven Mack for an altercation with teammate Jake Melkosham on Sunday night.
The incident took place in the inner suburbs of Melbourne after 9 p.m.
The club said in a statement: “After a dinner on Sunday evening, Jack and Steven told us about an argument that escalated into a light-hearted disagreement between the couple.”

“Jack and Steven were both drinking at dinner and incredibly remorseful that things were going their way.
“Given that Steven is still under the AFL Convention Protocol from Round 11, he was aware that he should not have been drinking according to the club’s guidelines.”
The Demons have lost their last two matches but are currently at the top of the ladder.
“The leadership group has recommended a one-match ban on Steven, a decision backed by the club’s wider leadership. This will make him unavailable for both the AFL and VFL selections,” the club said.
“Steven and Jack will complete community service through one of the club’s community partners so they can understand their responsibilities and influence as role models in the community.
“Over the past three years, Steven has become one of our most important on-field leaders, and while the impact of not making him available for election is significant, the most important thing for us is to live up to our culture and our commitment to our values.”
He joined Demons from the Sun in May 2019 and joined the All-Australian team in 2021.
“Steven is extremely remorseful and admits that his actions were completely beyond the expectations of the club and his teammates. He accepted the transfer ban and made no excuses for his poor judgment,” Demons said.
“While we are proud of the culture we have built up over the last few years and we are disappointed with Steven’s behavior, we will return to his character and support him to make sure he is armed to make better decisions for himself and the football club.”
