NRL News 2022, Gold Coast Titans vs North Queensland Cowboys Results, AJ Brimson

By Simon Bransdon, Zachary Gates

AJ Brimson, a disappointed Gold Coast star, has lamented his team’s “poor” performance as the Titans’ season plunged to new lows at the Sibas Super Stadium.

The Titans lost 32-6 at home in the second half to play against a low-key North Queensland team that lacked four State of Origin stars.

They had all the offensive force early in the game, and were fighting 16-6 at half-time, but the second leg had no match for the Cowboys.

Speaking to Wide World of Sports after the game, Brimson was clearly upset at the performance.

“It’s weak. I think it’s very clear we can’t play 80 minutes,” he told Janathan Thurston.

“I don’t think it’s a secret that we’re weak at the moment, and we’ve been weak late.

“It’s not good enough. To be honest, it’s very embarrassing.”

The Gold Coast is now 15th on the ladder with just three wins from 13 games this season, which has been cited as the biggest improvement of 2022.

Coach Justin Holbrooke has taken the exception by advising to be ready for a line-up this season.

“We know we’re miles away, but we’re working on it and (hopefully) bringing some wins together,” Holbrooke said.

To make matters worse for the Titans, liveware fullback Jaden Campbell injured his hamstring during Thursday’s loss.

League legend Andrew Johns fears for the Gold Coast season next to Campbell.

“They’ve been shot now. He’s the only one who has sparked them,” Johns told Nine.

“Right now they’re just hitting the water, really fighting for creativity in the attack. He’s the only one who delivers any spark.”

“They scored a goal in the 16th minute tonight and it doesn’t look like they’re going to score again … It’s going to be a tough time because Campbell isn’t there.”

The Titans will face South Sydney next Saturday.
