Trent Barrett immediately resigned as acting Bulldogs coach, Danny Weidler of Nine reported.
“I understand he resigned last night,” Widler tweeted.
The news led to a storm that gathered over the pressure coach, who met with the Bulldogs board on Monday for an emergency meeting regarding Barrett’s future.

That meeting will probably now focus on who will replace Barrett as immediate stand-in coach and then who will replace him instead of a permanent replacement.
According to a News Corporation report, the Bulldogs players were shocked to hear the news and abandoned their training schedule for the week.
They were reportedly sent home from training on Monday morning and are not expected to return to duty until Wednesday.
Canterbury football chief Phil Gold came to Barrett Bomashell a few weeks after he was backed to become the club’s long-term coach.
“As far as I’m concerned, he’s going to be the coach of the Bulldogs for a long time. He has such a wonderful nature as a coach,” he told Gold Nine 100% feet At the beginning of this season.
“He has great knowledge, great delivery, great communication.”
The Bulldogs finished bottom of the ladder last season and are currently anchored at the competition table this season with four points after winning two matches in the first 10 rounds.
