The Rabbitohs shut down a quick-ending Warriors outfit to return to the winners list on Saturday, but the win was lost due to a serious injury from Jacob Host.

The second-rower left the game with the help of a coach after injuring his right shoulder during the first set of the game.

“I think he shrugged his shoulders again,” said South coach Jason Demetrius.

“She has to go to a specialist, maybe she will have surgery.”

The Rabitohas took a 26-6 lead at half time but the Warriors fired in the second 40 minutes, closing the deficit at 32-30.

The Warriors made their last two attempts when there were only 12 men on the field in Rabitos, when hooker Damien Cook was guilty of obstructing Rees Walsh for chasing Shawn Johnson Graber.

Cody Walker lost in the first nine rounds of the season without former Huff partner Adam Reynolds, but the gun returned to form in bright fashion on the fifth-eighth Saturday.

Perhaps overwhelmed by the captaincy in the absence of the injured Cameron Marr, Walker set up three trials and hinted at his exceptional offensive best.

“I am not surprised by the way he played,” said Demetrius.

“He’s had moments like this in the last few weeks. It’s a little more responsibility. I thought he handled it very well. His kicking game was awesome.”

Warriors coach Nathan Brown was left to mourn for a catastrophic start, which effectively cost the match for his side.

“We need to focus on why it happened in the first half,” he said.

“It’s definitely not where you want to be as a football club.”

The Warriors will meet the Dragons at the Jubilee Oval next Saturday, while the Rabitohas are set to clash with the Raiders in Dubbo next Sunday.
