Rees Walsh slips while trying to convert for NZ Warriors against Newcastle

Warriors young gunman Rees Walsh draws a parallel with NRL legend Cameron Smith – but not for the way he wanted to.

With the opportunity to extend his team’s lead to 12 against Newcastle, the fullback lost his leg at the worst possible moment.

The rising fullback slipped, his kicking effort making it barely over 10 meters.

“This is a terrible moment for Reese Walsh!” Andrew Voss said in a commentary on the Fox League.

“If there is a worse kick than this year, I would be very surprised.”

NRL fans will remember Smith slipping from the same sideline in the same fashion – but with a different result.

Smith was about to strike the ball from the sideline in the first half when his leg betrayed him at the moment of injury.

Despite the flat landing on his back, Smith showed how deadly his laser-like boots can be to add two more points to the scoreline by drilling the ball over the black dot.

“What a moment!” At this time Vose said.

“He fell on an ice-skating rink and took the cross bar out of the game.”

The amazing transformation even surprised Smith by raising his hand to the crowd in celebration of the stunned kangaroo captain.
